Common questions

Questions families ask before a search

$59 for one search, $79 for two, $99 for all three, charged by MedaSynq Technologies Inc. It is paid once, before we start, and is not refunded if nothing is found. That is a separate charge from any claim: if a policy is found, Claim Assist files it, and Claim Assist's fee is 20% of that payout, only when the insurer pays.

Timing depends on insurer responses. Insurers set their own timelines.

No, and nobody honestly can. Either way, you get a written result.

Yes, when you choose the employer and union group plans search. Group life through a job is one of the most common policies families never hear about.

We offer the military and federal programs search when the person served, or when you are not sure. If they never served, we will not offer it; paying for a search that cannot find anything helps no one.

A lapsed policy usually does not pay a death benefit, but it is still worth asking. Some policies keep partial value even after a missed payment, for example a short grace period, a smaller paid-up benefit, or coverage that continues for a limited time. If an insurer confirms a policy existed, we ask what, if anything, is still payable, and that answer goes in your report.

You get a written result. The search fee is not refunded.

Immediate family or the person handling the estate can request a search. You do not need to be a named beneficiary. If a policy is found, the insurer pays whoever the policy names.

Their full Social Security number is required to complete the intake and pay for a search. If you do not have it yet, you can save your progress and finish later.

Only the places in the searches you choose, and only after you sign the authorization.

Disclaimers: MedaSynq is a claims-assistance service, not a law firm, not an insurance company, and not a public insurance adjuster. We do not provide legal advice and do not represent you in litigation or legal disputes. We do not sell, underwrite, or adjust insurance policies. We cannot guarantee that a policy exists or that a search will find one. Whether a policy exists, and whether it pays, is determined solely by the insurance carrier. The Policy Locate search fee is charged by MedaSynq Technologies Inc., paid once before the search starts, and is not refunded if nothing is found. If a policy located through the search is filed, the claim is handled by Claim Assist, and Claim Assist's fee is calculated on the actual amount paid by the carrier on that policy. Those fee terms are agreed to up front; the assignment of benefits that directs payment is signed only after the carrier confirms coverage.
