“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“On Thanksgiving November 27th., 2025 my husband of 59 years passed away. Two months prior to that on September 27th., 2025 we lost our 49 year old son.....Holly Hill Funeral Home took such personal, loving and compassionate care of our son that I knew they would do the same for my husband. I expressed that I did not want my husband left at the hospital any longer then necessary. He we received by Holly Hill in just a few hours. They contacted me to let me know he was there. We were able to have a small visitation with just immediate family within 3 days. As with our son, my husband and our family was treated with dignity and compassion. I will be forever grateful to Mary, Toni and Angela for their kindness to me and our children. They brought some brightness to me during such a dark and painful time. Thank you so much for all you do in our time of grieving.”

“AVOID!!! They wanted to charge over $5,000 for close family only to spend thirty minutes with a frozen body and cremation. They then started rolling out packets of $25,000 thousand dollars plus with catering and a cremation. I asked him what the bare bones would be just to use their chapel, and they said, we can give you two hours for $10,000. This place is what happens when a used car dealership meets a Timeshare presentation and they have a baby. ***I went to Frasiers and for under $5,000, they let me have the whole place for the whole day, the cremation, urn, and they the filled all 6+ of my necklaces with the ashes. Avoid Avoid Avoid.”

“This funeral home once offered my family compassionate, professional care — which is why we returned after my daughter was stillborn in July. My grandparents were both brought here, and the experience was handled with grace, especially by Ms. Amanda. But what we went through this time was a heartbreaking disaster, and I’m still dealing with the fallout almost three months later. From the start, communication was poor. My mother had to follow up just to confirm that they even received my daughter’s remains — almost a week passed before I was contacted. This time, we were working with Mr. Jimmy, and I cannot stress this enough: do not let him handle your loved one's arrangements. He rushed us through the process, made assumptions instead of asking questions, and repeatedly ignored or misunderstood our wishes. He preselected an urn before meeting with us, didn’t offer options until I pushed back, and mishandled multiple important details. The urn itself only came with one large, torn bag stuffed inside — ashes started falling out before I could even open it fully. My daughter was only one pound, eight ounces — every speck mattered. That moment still haunts me. We had also arranged for a small amount of ashes to be set aside for other keepsakes. They didn’t do that and Jimmy later kept using the defense, "I don't see that in my notes." The keepsake necklace I ordered was supposed to have my daughter’s handprint. I told him this clearly as he agreed her fingerprints were too small, this included me saying, “This will be the closest I ever get to holding her hand again.” Instead, when I opened the box weeks later, it had a footprint. I broke down in tears right there in the office. Ms. Laurie sprung into action. When Jimmy contacted me, he admitted he assumed what we wanted and didn't remember that conversation. He kept pushing "it's not in my notes" and "that's just how we do things here." I just wanted to move on, "clearly in my emotional state, I didn't understand." He kept pushing until I got overly frustrated and finally raised my voice. Why were you continuing to buckle down on how it wasn't your fault when we are seemingly agreeing to just get it fixed and move on? Instead of just dropping the defensive act, he sighed and asked if I “just wanted to talk to his manager” like he was teenager at a McDonald's who just put onions on someone's burger when they asked for it plain. Thankfully, Ms. Mary stepped in and did her best to correct things, ordered a new keepsake, and kept me informed. But by then, I’d been retraumatized multiple times, on top of the arrangements already being messed up, now this man was talking to me like it was my fault and belittling me for not understanding the routines and policies of the funeral home. I entrusted him to treat my family with respect and this was his attitude and behavior towards me while mishandling the death and remains of my child. My replacement keepsake came in this week finally and even the new keepsake wasn’t what I expected — the design didn’t match the catalog photo — and at this point, I’ve decided to take her handprint elsewhere and have a new one made. Less trauma. Less cost. Better quality. To add to the heartbreak, we found out from the funeral home that the hospital discarded our baby’s blanket that she was born with and swaddled in without telling us. When we asked to bring an outfit for her to be cremated in, Mr. Jimmy said it was too late — she was already prepared. Later I learned she wasn’t cremated until several days afterward. I will never know what she was dressed in, or how she looked and that thought is unbearable to even attempt to try to process. To be clear: the women here are wonderful — Ms. Laurie, Ms. Amanda, and Ms. Mary all showed care and compassion. But Mr. Jimmy’s negligence and lack of empathy made the most painful experience of my life even worse. If you’re considering this funeral home, please make sure Jimmy is not involved in your arrangements. No family should have to go through this — especially not after already losing a child.”
