You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Avoid: A Five-Year Nightmare for a Simple Headstone. Incompetent Staff, Lost Paperwork, and Zero Communication. I strongly advise anyone looking for reliability and professionalism to look elsewhere. We ordered and fully paid for a gravestone at Evergreen Funeral Home, only to endure a nightmare that lasted five years. I received zero updates. It turns out the third-party stone company they used shut down, and Evergreen failed to notify us. To make matters worse, they lost our original paperwork. Every time we called, the staff was unhelpful and lacked basic knowledge of our situation. The stone was never even started until I personally provided them with the copies of the paperwork I had kept. Dealing with this level of incompetence during such a sensitive time was unacceptable. Please find a more reliable funeral home that respects its clients and their families.”

“I’ve used this company for multiple family members services. Michelle went above and beyond for my grandmothers celebration of life. I purchased cremation services and then had a reception to follow. Michelle helped me with ordering necklaces & flowers. Michelle also made sure every detail I wanted for my grandmothers service was in it. I brought things to display and they set it up just beautiful! A few technical difficulties with music n such but it didn’t change how beautiful it was. So thank you for treating my family like royalty. I appreciate it.”

“I highly recommend Evergreen. From the first call, Michelle treated our family with incredible compassion, patience, and respect. Every detail was handled with top notch care. Michelle was not only professional but what stood out was most was her genuine helpfulness and kindness. I am so thankful for her!”
