You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“It was my first time having to make arrangements for a loved one and Brandon made the process as easy as it could have been. He was very caring and professional and made sure my Dad had everything that he wanted. Thank you so much Brandon.”

“We had a not so good experience with this funeral home. From being lied to in the beginning I get people are busy when when we are given dates of certain things from obituary to when the cremation would be done were all different dates. We called multiple times and couldn't even get the answering machine half the time. Granted he waived a couple hundred bucks for us but we were told we would be getting death certificates and didn't I guess that part is not a big deal.... BUT very unprofessional when I went to go pick up the ashes these people had no proof that we had already paid for the full cremation in cash the day we first met. Luckily I didn't throw the recipt away but how do you not keep proof of what people pay and wouldn't release the ashes until I could find the recipt. Imagine how many grieving families come in here and have to pay extra money because they try and say they haven't paid and they already did. I definitely will not recommend this place or use them again. Terrible experience and this isn't even all that was went thru with them.”

“This was my first time having to handle the loss of a very close family member. I’ve never had to make arrangements to say our goodbyes before. We decided to call Mr. Coelho to make arrangements and he handled everything for us very well and quickly. He listened to us and answered all our questions from affordable pricing and details leading up to the funeral service. Mr. Coelho and his staff were great from beginning to end. They were caring and the attention to detail was outstanding. He did an excellent service in transitioning my sister to her final resting place. I can’t say enough about Mr. Coelho and his professional staff. My family and I were satisfied with their service from beginning to end. We highly recommend them, Again Thank you Mr. Coelho and Staff”
