You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I am so happy with the flowers from our recent wedding at Union Station Northampton. We worked with Heather to explain our vision, and she made flowers that looked even nicer that we could have imagined. Since we had a late December wedding, we decided to do wreath centerpieces instead of traditional centerpieces, and Heather made the most beautiful 3-D fluffy wreaths. (I only wish I had gotten a better photo.) Then, for our wedding bouquets, she incorporated winter evergreens and some blue flowers for a pop of color. The corsages and boutonnieres also looked great, everything was reasonably priced, and Heather was very easy to work with.”

“Absolutely stunning flowers and even better service. From the very beginning, owner Heather took such great care of us—she listened to our vision, offered guidance, and made the whole process stress-free. Sandra and Lexi were wonderful as well, handling all the details with professionalism and kindness. The floral arch was absolutely breathtaking and one of the highlights of our ceremony. Even better, we were able to repurpose those same flowers for our head table at the reception, which made everything feel so cohesive and special. Our bouquets, boutonnières, and arrangements were all fresh, vibrant, and beautifully designed, and we received endless compliments. Delivery and setup were seamless, and everything was exactly as we had hoped for (if not better!). If you’re looking for a florist who truly cares and creates stunning results, I can’t recommend them enough. Five stars—thank you, Heather, Sandra, and Lexi & the whole crew! 🌸💐”

“I’ve used Durocher for so many occasions over the years, and they never miss. My grandparents absolutely love the flower arrangements — they’re always beautiful, thoughtfully put together, and they last a long time (which matters). Timely delivery every time and consistently stunning arrangements. Truly dependable and always a great experience.”
