You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Good afternoon. Hicks and Son's Mortuary Fort Valley, GA. went above and beyond preparing my son for his final chapter. They handled the arrangements and services with such efficiency and speed. The response time is quick when we needed to contact them. We went through a lot before we got to Hicks and Son's because of the time frame. Hicks delivered for us. We are truly grateful. They care about the family, the bereaved. In my opinion. The facility in Ft. Valley, Macon, and to include the staff is impeccable. They did not take advantage. They are true professional. Look no further, choose Hicks and Son's. It is your choice. Thank you, and good day!🙏P.S. They are reasonably priced.”

“Initial service was great. On the business side they are absolutely horrible. One year later and still waiting on death certificates. Team did not follow instructions when arriving to the family home or during service. The director was not familiar with the family and therefore got up and spoke wrongly.”
— Sha Rogers
