You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Amazing service and compassionate support. One of the greatest gifts my mother gave me was pre-planning her funeral and burial before she passed. I just did mine for my daughter. Gasaly was amazing. She was knowledgeable, patient and extremely helpful. I highly recommend!!”

“To many, it’s just a tree. But for my mom—and for us—it holds deep meaning. After her burial on November 21, 2023, a tree stood beside her resting place—just as we had hoped. My mom loved trees and all the creatures that found their home in them. In the afternoons, she would sit peacefully beneath a tree, finding solace in its shade. We made sure she was laid to rest by one, so she could continue to be near the nature she cherished. When the tree was struck by lightning and died, the cemetery had planned to remove it as part of their protocol. But we reached out with a simple request: that a new tree be planted in its place. We were deeply moved when, on the very day the old tree was removed, a fresh, young tree was planted. In Buddhism, trees hold deep symbolism. They represent impermanence (anicca), the idea that all things change, and nothing lasts forever. The old tree’s passing felt like a reminder of this truth. But the planting of a new tree is also a symbol of rebirth, continuity, and the interconnectedness of all life. It reflects the Buddhist understanding that while one form may pass, life continues, always transforming. This resonates deeply with my respect and honor for Buddhism and the wisdom it teaches. This new tree is more than just a replacement. It is a continuation of her spirit—rooted in the earth she loved, just as she would have wanted. It honors her love for nature, for the animals, and for the stillness of an afternoon beneath the shade of a tree. Just as she found peace beneath the branches, we trust that her spirit continues to find peace under this new one. Thank you, Caballero Rivero Dade South, for honoring our request with such care and respect. In planting this new tree, you’ve helped carry on something sacred, not just for us, but for the memory of my mom, who will always rest under the trees she loved. As we reflect on this beautiful gesture, we offer this blessing: "May the roots of this tree grow deep, may it reach toward the sky, as my mom’s spirit finds peace, ever present in the shade it provides. May all beings find the same peace and freedom, and may she continue to rest in tranquility, under the watchful branches she loved so much." Forever Grateful, The Torres Family ☸️✨️💝💚🌳🍀🐛🦋🕊🐦🦎🪱🐞🫂🪽”
