You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Thank you to everyone for supporting us through a very difficult time. You truly thought of every detail and did it with kindness and compassion. The most challenging time of my life was handled with class from the planning phase through two days of visitations and services. A sincere thank you to Mike and all staff for going above and beyond in a very caring and professional way. Thank you!”

“Kuhn’s pet cremation is fast, reliable and very professional they have cremated the mother,Coco and this January 3, 2026 i lost the father on my four puppies (actually they just turned 10 years old but they are so little and cute). Also I filled out your Spanish questionnaire abut your service but it doesn’t do justice to Dhally who helped me with her knowledge of the process to cremate my husband but she understood the importance of the culture when it came to the viewing of his body. Thank you Dhally and Michael for helping me during this difficult time. God bless you both and I am at peace knowing my husband and two doggies are in a better place.”

“It’s never easy to write a review for a funeral home. We recently visited Kuhn Funeral Home in West Reading, PA, to support friends after the unexpected passing of his brother. As guests, not clients, we found the funeral home to be very nice and respectful. The atmosphere was appropriate for the occasion, and the staff seemed to ensured that everything ran smoothly. Parking was convenient, with a lot across the street providing ample space, though the on-site lot appeared to fill up quickly. Overall, it was a well-maintained and accommodating space for those paying their respects.”
