For the viewing, Mr. Gibson made sure everything reflected my mother’s personality and the things she loved most. He thoughtfully included touches that represented her — football decorations, reminders of her love for the Hallmark Channel, and even her favorite wine. The atmosphere was warm and comforting, filled with her favorite music and a beautiful video presentation of her life and photos. There were even snacks available for guests, which made everyone feel welcomed and at ease. Before the viewing began, Mr. Gibson took the time to give me a private moment with my mother. That gesture meant so much to me because it allowed me to gather myself and be emotionally ready to console others. It was a small but powerful act of kindness that I will never forget. My mother looked absolutely amazing. She was dressed with the care of a professional hairstylist and a personal attendant who made sure every detail was perfect. The presentation reflected her elegance and beauty, and it was clear that Mr. Gibson made sure she was shown the love and respect she deserved. We also chose to have the repass — or as Mr. Gibson beautifully called it, the Celebration Dinner — at the funeral home. He arranged for a talented chef to prepare all of my mother’s favorite foods, including oxtails, fish, and étouffée. There were several food stations set up so everyone could taste a little bit of everything. It felt less like a somber occasion and more like a loving celebration of her life, just the way she would have wanted. Mr. Gibson and his daughter are some of the kindest, most professional people I have ever met. They treated my family with respect, compassion, and genuine understanding from start to finish. Every step of the process — from purchasing the plot and casket to designing the programs — was handled with patience and care. Mr. Gibson even called to check on us afterward, making sure we had the support we needed in the days that followed. Losing a loved one is never easy, but having the right people by your side makes all the difference. Mr. Gibson and the Haven Memorial Funeral Home staff turned a painful time into a heartfelt celebration filled with love and memories.
