You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The other day, I heard of the terrible fire which occurred at the Cook Brothers Funeral Home. My heart and prayers go out to all that were affected by this fire. I especially send prayers out to Pastor Tamarkus Cook for his quick recovery. The Pastor’s dedication to his community, customers and business was shown by him entering a burning building to save the remains that were in his care. This man and his staff showed such compassion for the families of loved ones that have passed. God bless this hero, the staff and the brave firefights that extinguished the blaze. Thank you Pastor Cook. 🙏❤️”

“I cannot say enough good things about the Cook Brother's Funeral Home. My father passed away in April 2025 at 4 am. I was able to call them and make on the spot arrangements. We also had to transport my father from Atlanta to Miami and they made the process seemless. We were able to have a service in the chapel and they had everything we needed. There was not a question or detail that Tamarkus or Chaz could not answer. My dad looked impeccable even though his stroke caused some disfigurement, you would not have been able to tell because the staff took great care of his presentation. There is a lot of uncertainty about death when someone passes away, but I am certain that a person will be taken care of well with the Cook Brothers.”

“Despite some issues with my aunt and her daughters service, Tamarkus Cook graciously reached out to me through another aunt of mine for my sister's funeral as my sister really wanted them to do her funeral and has now passed away and wanted a green burial like I do as well. Great service. Good people.”
