You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I had put off ordering our monument- i visited one other company a year ago and walked out disappointment. Then 3 months ago I went into Wommack for an appointment with Lindsey. Working with her made something that was difficult for me so easy. Lindsey listened to what my husband and I had previously discussed prior to his passing. She asked questions that allowed her to know us as people. Lindsey relayed info to the designers and the result is exactly what Dennis and I had discussed. I couldn't be more pleased with our monument. I would highly recommend Wommack and Lindsey to anyone.”

“Michelle at the Aurora office is truly wonderful. She was so friendly and helpful. Of course, I came in a bit stressed wanting to get the right monument for husband, who has passed, and myself. She put me (and my son) at ease and then walked us through step by step everything I needed to consider & then do. I feel, with her help, we were able to pick out the perfect monument for my husband & myself. Thank you Michelle.”

“I gave them 3 stars because my mom's headstone did turn out beautiful, but the whole process was painful. We picked out a design from one of the many pictures they gave us, but the design was altered, twice. When we wanted it changed back to what we chose, Lindsey was rude and condescending, to the point that I chose not to return with my sister. During our second meeting, Lindsey actually said, " Don't you think it's a little weird to be upset over a flower ?" Well, it may be weird to her, but to families who are grieving and trying to do the best for their loved ones, the design is important. As a side note, it wasn't just a flower, she'd changed the whole layout. Again, the stone turned out beautiful. My suggestion would be to let the families actually meet with the artist and bypass Lindsey. She doesn't need to be dealing with grieving families.”
