You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Dear Coral Ridge Funeral Home Team, From the moment we reached out, your team demonstrated unwavering dedication, genuine empathy, and incredible professionalism. The amount of time you spent listening to our wishes, coordinating every detail, and ensuring everything ran smoothly did not go unnoticed. Your careful planning and attention to detail helped honor my grandmother Josephine Palermo in a way that felt truly meaningful. We are particularly grateful for the affordable costs, which provided much-needed relief during this difficult time. Thank you for your kindness, patience, and exceptional service. With heartfelt appreciation, Lisa Kennedy and Family”

“My experience with Coral Ridge Funeral Home was deeply disappointing from start to finish. In 2021, I attempted to transfer my mother’s prepaid funeral policy for Dignity from Houston after moving her to the area. The process was unnecessarily difficult. I made multiple calls to Coral Ridge, was repeatedly told someone would follow up, and never received a response. Only after persistent effort was the transfer finally completed. Months before my mother passed, I met with a representative to tour the facility and plan a Celebration of Life. We prepaid the room rental and were clearly told we could use any licensed caterer and provide a thumb drive with photos for the event. After my mother’s death, I was told I had been given the incorrect information. I could not use a thumb drive and had to pay Coral Ridge to upload photos. I was also required to use their in-house caterer. I paid the additional charges during an already difficult time. During this interaction, every attempt was made to “upsell” as many memorial products as possible, even though arrangements had already been made. On the day of the service, although catering was ordered for 50 people, the room was set for 90, leaving many empty tables. As guests arrived and greeted one another, we were asked to leave the entryway because we were “too loud,” which felt insensitive given the circumstances. The food was acceptable, but service was poorly managed. Trays were empty while guests were still in line, then later refilled after people had finished eating. Remaining food was not offered to the family, despite being paid for. The final and most upsetting issue came as we were leaving. We were given “With Gratitude” cards to send to those who sent flowers—only to later discover the cards were printed with the name of another deceased individual, not my mother. Overall, the experience lacked sensitivity, consistency, and compassion. I would not recommend Coral Ridge Funeral Home or Dignity Memorial of which they are a part.”
