“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This facility was suggested to us at the hospital as the most affordable of the cremation options. While it may be "affordable" the service and treatment was not something we were expecting during this hard time. We scheduled a time to pickup our loved one and when we showed up there was already someone with the person at the front desk. We were not offered a quiet place to stay or sit, just kind of ignored while we had to listen to the other people in the office talk and plan out their needs. When the person did break away to help us we let them know we were there to pick up remains. The remains were just on the desk under some papers and pamphlets. We asked about looking at urn options and the person admitted they were new and didn't know where anything was as this was their first day. Picking up a loved one and having to go through this process in front of complete strangers was not a memory that will be soon forgotten. Very disappointed in the service and lack of compassion in a difficult time.”

“Excellent experience. Ms.Carol was invaluable and very nice. I appreciated all the help in planning and writing the obituary. When I asked if we could see my mom beforehand, it was not a problem. They made her look very nice, and it helped my family with our loss. Thank you again for everything.”

“Very caring people couldn't ask for anything more. Mrs. Harris (Carol) was very caring, helpful and patient, considering everything you see and deal with you are nothing short of amazing. Thank you so much!!”
