You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I never hired this funeral home. A family member that didn’t have legal rights over my father as he’s legally married to my mother and I have medical guardianship, hired them to take my father’s body. I am in the process of trying to get my father to the correct funeral home and have not received a call back yet. I have been calling for hours and answered twice to be made aware that the funereal director will call. Still no call and trying to resolve this as quickly as possible without any legal ramifications. Per their response regarding “I should’ve exercised medical guardianship” when my loved one was alive. Please do your research, it was exercised and the hospital was made aware and documents were provided as well. ALONG with my father is legally MARRIED to my NOTHER who is his next of kin. NOT a sibling from a previous marriage. So since due diligence wasn’t exercised, I am waiting to contact the courts this morning AND ME NOR MY MOTHER have received a call back from this business after calling several times and being promised the funeral director would be contacted. Facebook messages were left in addition to emails.”

“This business has put members of my family in serious distress. First, the service was just bad. My father would have been horrified at the quality of his service. He wasn’t a man that needed all the bells and whistles but his service just felt so undignified. He looked horrible and the set up for him was just so cheap looking. The place is in an industrial yard and the room where the service is held feels like a motel lobby. They didn’t even have toilet paper in the bathroom for the family. Had to use napkins from the car. Secondly, it has been months and we still have not received the death certificate. Members of my family are facing eviction, utilities turned off, you name it because we cannot do anything financially without the death certificate. At this point we are considering suing for damages.”

“This funeral home definitely knows how to put on a HUGE HUGE FRONT. Beautiful website, but horrible service. My cousin services was this past Saturday & viewings and funerals are supposed to bring some what of a healing these people did nothing but bring TRAUMA. They sent a text message that they would be arriving at 11:22 her services started at 11am ( text message photos can be provided) she was brought in a dirty burgundy dodge mini van, driven by a lady, and another lady in the backseat. The man got out the van in an oversized crumbled looking blue “ suit” no one else exited the van. My father, my uncle, and my 2 cousins carried her in the church while our whole family was put in a room while she was brought in. Now to start her appearance was absolutely horrific! She had no eye caps, her face was completely sunk in, her hair was wet, her skin was warm she was seeping and WET!! Drain tubes showing, not to mention a message was also sent that she “ shifted during transport” so she wasn’t even sitting up in the cardboard blue casket that brought her in even though they said it was be a nice casket given she would be eventually be cremated. Now, my aunt my cousins children and the 100 people who showed up for her were mortified to the point another funeral home was called in to pick her up from the church, the owner of this “ funeral home” was sitting nodding out and once was informed another services would be coming he left. Regardless of my cousin being an organ donor she should NOT have looked the way she did. She is also missing her meta glasses that she loved and are very costly and this place says they was not in the bag but was.. as well as the SHEIN necklace her 10 year old daughter bought for her. Not only are they liars and scammers they are THEIFTS! How dare these people turn someone’s grieving into more trauma. We have all proof of conversations and photos. This place needs to be INVESTIGATED AND SHUT DOWN. No family should ever have to endure what our family did this past weekend.”
