You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This place was recommended due to their experience with international funeral services and it was a good price. I’ve never had to deal with anything like this before and needed to make sure I had the right guidance. But I did not expect the communication, payment handling or professionalism (or lack of) to be as bad as it’s been. Mr. Jules was great to meet and reassured our family about the handling of everything. But unless you have him with you in person, there is barely any communication, no updates on information, and no time management (he was about 30 minutes late to our appointment to go over everything. When it came time to pay, our family had only raised half the money for the expenses and so it was given to the funeral home to get things rolling, but when it came to paying the rest, I was hoping to get it done before our service so I could focus on grieving with family and friends instead of being stalked by his coworkers all during the service and being pulled away more than once during the service. What made things WORSE was the fact that right when the hearse was supposed to be pulling away after my brothers, cousins and I carried my mom’s coffin to the vehicle, they decided it was best to just stop in the parking lot and count the rest of the money in front of crying and distraught family. And all I could do was just stand there and wait for their horrible counting to get done while I hear my grandma wailing in the background. Lastly, a week after it was promised, the death certificate and a receipt of the expenses paid to the funeral home have still not been given to me in any way and Jules has done nothing about it. -UPDATE- (2 stars to 1) And the headaches continue, this place just can’t seem to figure out simple instructions. I finally got the death certificate situation sorted but they misspelled my name on the documents that were meant to allow me to pick up my mother’s body at the airport in Guatemala. They had it wrong on the death certificate at first and they updated it after I spoke with them but I guess they just didn’t learn from their mistake and misspelled it the same way on everything else. WORST FUNERAL HOME EVER!! You should look elsewhere, or spend your time going back and forth instead of properly grieving your loved one with family.”

“Excellent customer service delivered to our family throughout the process. Our love one was prepared perfectly, he looked like himself. Jules went above and beyond in the services he provided! Our family called him constantly with request and he never got annoyed with us. Maria led our service and was excellent! So many memorable details and small touches added that over exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much Emmanuel! Haitian business that delivered above my expectations! Thank you, thank you! ❤”
