“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I went to the cemetery today to add flowers to my grandparents grave. The other two graves are my parents. I was sad to see the grounds crew removed my mom’s cross I put for her birthday. My mom passed away during COVID. I specifically asked that she have a vase like all my other relatives and I was told it was not available for her plot. So apparently there is nothing I can put out to that won’t get removed. This is terrible not to be able to put something there for her like my other family members. What I put was not unsightly and had damage to the grounds. I’m not happy with this place. It’s not kept up well. They do not trim around the graves and the roads are terrible. I feel if you are not going to permit people to buy grave stones or monument’s with a vase then you shouldn’t have such strict rules about what you can put out within reason.”

“A nice gentleman helped me find a friend’s spot in the cemetery. He was very kind and helpful!”

“I called to inquire about times for my grandfather's burial (the plot was already purchased) and the man who answered the phone was incredibly rude or harsh. He questioned me saying things like "I should have been the first call so I could make sure I had room on the schedule" My grandfather hadn't been gone 24 hours at this point. I had just left the funeral home and made arrangements with them, so naturally the cemetery was my next call. He was also very rude with my grandmother's when we went in to complete paperwork in office. Not to mention it took well over an hour. We were told 5 to 6 months for the headstone, it's been 7 months. The cemetery is also very unkempt, and looks a mess all the time. I am so disappointed and heartbroken over leaving my grandfather here. I Highly recommend looking at other cemeteries in the area, you'll end up very disappointed from point of first contact to the very end.”
