You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Where do I even big with this place? My beautiful grandmother passed away on the 10th of this month. When this happened we weren’t prepared at all for where to take her. We were in such a tough spot mentally and just began calling places. We had spoke with a few other funeral homes and decided to just try 1 more. The moment we spoke with Mylei (Funeral Director) we had this feeling in our hearts to choose them. And that’s exactly what we did. This was a Saturday. The morgue came and got our grandma and allowed us as long as we wanted with her. I was the power of attorney and in her will I was who was to make all decisions regarding her passing. I wasn’t even sure where to turn or what I was doing… because my grandma and I had talked about this and I knew she wanted to be cremated and she had mentioned a place she wanted to go… but that place never responded to me or attempted to call after I had requested for them to do so. Mylei took me in and answered every question, she stood by my brother and I through every single obstacle and guided us through the entire process. She let me be very hands on too… I got to change my grandma into her final outfit and got to do her makeup. Lisa showed us this beautiful placed called “The Chapel of Roses” and the moment we stepped into the building we knew… THIS is where we were going to put our grandma’s ashes. This is where we were going to memorialize her for the rest of forever. And Lisa did just that… she got us every bit of information, pinned down all the numbers and made sure we were 100% happy with the decision before finalization. Between Mylei, Lisa and a few others in the funeral home we are eternally grateful. This loss was so hard for my brother and I because our grandma raised us. And they made this as easy and seamless as possible. I will always and I do mean always recommend this place to handle your loved ones. They were not only professional, they allowed us to feel like family and made something so insanely difficult and made it feel… easy. Never once did they make our questions seem dumb or made my requests to be so hands on seem weird. I would give so many more stars than 5 if I could. They treated my grandma’s body like royalty and gave me peace when nothing else could. The best funeral home in Oklahoma hands down. And that goes to every single one of their employees.”

“Resthaven did an outstanding job! Both my husband and I felt there was nothing they could have done better. They handled my husband's Mom with dignity and perfect care. I was worried about how Mom would look in the open casket. But I should not have been concerned, she was beautiful! The pricing is good and worked hard with us to make it work on my MIL's budget. We used the chapel and it was perfect. Jay Arnold was our funeral director and handled everything so perfectly. He is compassionate and fun to deal with. He was open with us about procedures and dealt with all my questions with compassion. My husband and I were so impressed that we are both going to go and prepay for our cremation services.”

“Unfortunately we have had to use Resthaven Funeral Home twice in two yrs. As far as being a great group of people, they absolutely are! The compassion and understanding is genuine. They are willing and eager to get people through a very hard time in life as smoothly as possible. That clearly shows. Death is never easy. But the staff at Resthaven never makes the preparations for Ceremonies and Burials hard. For all you do, we thank you for helping us cope! ❤️”
