“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I worked with Theresa Fulilove in March 2022 to finalize grave markers for my father and aunt. Throughout the process, Theresa was incredibly patient, service-oriented, solutions-focused, and professional. My Army-veteran father died in early 2019 and Theresa immediately sent a letter to let me know that the VA would provide a marker for his grave. After three years I was finally able to complete the process. I also decided to provide a marker for my aunt who passed in 2014. Right from the start I was high-maintenance, but time after time, Theresa calmly and efficiently solved the roadblocks that may have kept me from finalizing the process. My issues started as soon as I made the first call. I live in a time zone that is 5 hours behind Garden of Memories Cemeteries and had trouble calling at first, because the phone system blocked private calls. I reached out to Theresa via email and she troubleshooted the phone issue to allow my calls to go through. She also communicated with me via email as much as possible, which is my preferred method of communication. Other amazing and thoughtful help Theresa provided: 1) She read my aunt's obituary and found that she had been a nurse, so she suggested a medical symbol for her marker that was an absolutely perfect choice. 2) Theresa provided photos of my grandparents' markers so I could choose styles and options for my dad's and aunt's markers that would match their parents'. 3) When I couldn't provide a copy of my father's DD214, she had one faxed from the VA...the SAME DAY! 4) Theresa let me know my aunt was also eligible for a VA discount, which I hadn't realized. 5) Whenever I needed to complete and sign forms, Theresa provided pdf files I could edit and e-sign (again, my preferred method). 6) When I was having trouble choosing only four words as my father's epitaph, Theresa learned that I could choose up to 54 characters broken into two lines. 7) When I called to pay via credit card, Theresa switched phones so she could directly enter my credit information and wouldn't have to write it down to transfer later. While I was writing this, I took a minute to see how many emails we exchanged. I count that Theresa sent at least ten and I sent her even more. Even more remarkably, Theresa was extremely responsive, often replying to questions the very day I sent an email, or the following day when I wrote in the evening. I am extremely grateful for all the help that moved me through this process, step by step, yet also made sure that I was satisfied with the choices I made. I am an extremely satisfied customer, and I highly recommend.”
