You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Everything from the availability of the staff at the time of crisis, as well as the convenient scheduling and taking care of details. The communication provided was consistent and ongoing. I worked with Taylor and she could not have been more understanding, caring and available.”

“Wonderful place to have a service. Jean was our funeral director when my mom (Gay Ann) suddenly passed away, and her and everyone else there really was there for us. They listened to our long stories and I felt like they really cared about her. They also answered our phone calls and emails (we have a lot of questions and ideas for the service) and never made us feel like we were too much. The facility was very classy and casual at the same time, super clean, welcoming, but also appropriate for mourning. I’m very glad we came here. Also, the grave side service they provided for us was amazing. They brought the flowers from the facility and set them up at the gravesite with zero issues, and one of guys who worked there gave each guest a red rose to put on my mother’s casket when she was in the ground before we buried her. It was sooooo sweet and thoughtful of him to come up with an easy way for each guest to honor and pay homage to her. Everyone who attended told me that was their favorite part bc it was so unique and a beautiful idea. I never got the guy’s name, but if he is reading this- thank you. Watching everyone walk up to her casket and honor my mother made the healing process that much easier. Also the gravedigger Rick was very professional and even stayed to talk with us. I felt like he actually cared and buried her body slowly and carefully. Thank you everyone who works here. I’ll definitely recommend this place. ”
