You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“* RESPONSE TO OWNER RE: MY ORIGINAL POST FROM 12/22/25 ( Had to delete to make room for this one ) I appreciate your empathy in the reply you posted. However, I am still trying to understand your explanations of 'what may have happened'. I agree, Motorcycle Escorts announce and may give instructions as to when anyone wishing to be in the procession to the cemetery, to go to their cars - (as mentioned in my first review, the parking lot was small and behind the church). One of my son's friend, who attended the funeral as a support gesture, embarrassingly, later mentioned, "I thought the procession was odd. As I walked to my car, the Cop was yelling at us like we were in prison or something. Where's the decency and compassion?" Is this the way motorcycle escorts manage funeral processions? Although I don't believe these escorts are on your staff, hpwever, they do reflect negatively on your business. You also mentioned the 'misunderstanding' we had about our flowers transportation - that 'Unless a flower car is arranged through the mortuary, we transport only the casket spray. This is something we go over with families during the arrangement process.' Initially, my sons step-mother and her sister went to Harrison-Ross' Compton office to make funeral arrangements. They called me at home, to listen as well as to ask questions during the process. Only the Standard Funeral Goods & Services Package was offered and explained to us. Not one mention or explanation of a flower car was presented. While it is not mandatory to mention a flower car when presenting funeral packages - when does your Mission Statement to provide compassion' and 'professionalism' to your clients take over? This was a first - time widow, who had no knowledge of planning a funeral. If your Funeral Director did not present options or suggestions to her at this time, how could she have made an 'informed' choice? I will decline your offer to 'talk with you directly'. I am still waiting to speak with Mimi from the Firestone Mortuary location, who I contacted three times since December. Actually I had to explain each time I called, my reason for calling, then, after a long pause on hold, operators said she was not in and that she would return my call. My son, who paid her for his father's funeral, never received an itemized receipt for his payment, that she said would be email him on December 3, 2025. He only received the receipt for his credit card payment. So, to me that sets a pattern about the concern, sincerity and honesty that your customer service dept. shows after a funeral is paid for.”

“This place is garbage! Disrespectful and completely unprofessional. My brother paid them over $5,800.00 for my dad’s funeral (12/15/2025) and escort to the cemetery. They popped up after the eulogy, passed out a few “funeral” stickers to put on our cars (not even enough for everyone) and as people were walking to their cars to line up in front the church, Harrison-Ross people drove off and left more than half of us there at the church! We all had to scramble from the church in Compton all the way to Inglewood cemetery. They didn’t announce they were leaving. They didn’t wait for us - not even my brother - who paid these decrepit people. The motorcycle riders and the Hearst driver. Idiots. DONT’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM!! You’re better off using services of a more reputable and decent mortuary. Harrison-Ross is scandalous. They need their license revoked.”
