You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“During a very difficult time in our family's life, we couldn't have asked for better service. Michael Edgley was very warm, sensitive to our family's needs, and patient in discussing our options. Everything was carried out to the last detail as promised. Highly recommend.”

“You can take this review however but their 5.0 rating isn't 100% true. Personally I wouldn't let this company deal with the future deaths in my family. They choose sides in family drama when they did not know what was going on. Empty promises were made and sides were taken. Not very professional if you ask me and i thought the woman there was very nice lady (forgot her name) in the beginning. Not sure how you tell family members they can pick up the ashes and that they will be contacted directly but then they can't and somehow power of attorney is still valid after death and only that person can pick up ashes? None of us could get information except the ex power of attorney that is not valid in the state of Florida after death. Interesting...”

“I could not be happier with the genuine compassion, kindness and patience I experienced at Edgely after experiencing the trauma of the sudden death of a loved one. Mike and Georgia are the very best people and helped assuage a shocking loss with their professional calm and empathetic concern. I was given an appointment to meet on the same day that I first called. All processes were patiently explained to me and my three adult children, and moved forward timely under the schedule indicated, allowing me to travel back North with the cremains within a week as I had hoped. My request to be on premises, waiting in the conference room, during the cremation process was also accommodated, a kindness which was important to me as part of the grieving process. I received exceedingly prompt and kind responses on every communication - whether phone call or email - from details on the scheduling process, to prayer card composition layout, paperwork exchange with the medical examiner's office and working out the obituary submission. When I look back at that very painful week of my life, I remember experiencing the gentle kindness of everyone at Edgely who truly helped ease the sting from a painful loss with their endless patience and kind shoulders to lean on. I would highly recommend Edgely services to anyone going through the difficult grieving process.”
