You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for the outstanding job you did for my son’s service. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, you handled everything with such care, dignity, and professionalism. Seeing my son look so peaceful meant more to our family than words can truly express. Your patience with our family, along with the empathy and compassion you showed, did not go unnoticed. You made us feel supported every step of the way. The overall handling of every detail was exceptional. You truly treated us like family, and that level of kindness brought comfort to us when we needed it most. If anyone is looking for a caring, family-oriented memorial service, I would wholeheartedly recommend your funeral home. Thank you again for everything you have done for our family. With heartfelt gratitude, The Benson Family”

“Mom was receiving Hospice care and declining. I recently moved to Las Vegas and had no idea of which funeral home to assist me and my family with getting Mom back to the East Coast. A lot of people gave me recommendations but I didn't feel 100% comfortable with them. I wondered who would treat her with respect and who could we trust to explain all of the details, costs, logistics etc...involved. After my husband and I had a long conversation with one of the Hospice minister she had a sense of who we were, what are faith was and our values, she said, "You have to chose Giddens Memorial Chapel." So, we did. When Mom passed, eventhough it was very early in the morning, Mr. Kyle Giddens showed up promptly. He answered all of our questions, gave us 2 or 3 ways of contacting him and provided us with instruction on what the next steps would be. He treated Mom with care, dignity and respect. He made all the necessary arrangements ( including paperwork) to have Mom flown to the East coast to the care of the receiving funeral home, Mom previously selected. The receiving funeral home was very difficult to comminicate with. Mr. Giddens, successfully was able navigate through some of road blocks the receiving funeral home was trying to throw at us. We believe that the road blocks stemmed from their fear of the unknown. Giddens Memorial Chapel provided more compassionate and professional service than the receiving funeral home. I wish we could have had the entire funeral services with Giddens. Overall, it was a smoothe transition. We thank Mr. Kyle Giddens and his Staff for going above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met. My family and I Highly recommend the Giddens Memorial Chapel.”

“It was our first time arranging a funeral for our loved one. From the very first time we met the staff at Giddens they were all beyond professional, welcoming, loving, caring, thoughtful, attentive and much more ! At no point did we ever feel like this was a business, Raymond and staff made us feel like family. They were always there to answer our questions, they were there the whole step of the way with out making us feel like a customer. We received numerous compliments on behalf of the funeral home from both family and friends. Everyone was just touched by their sincerity and how heartwarming they were. My brother was in such great hands the entire time, and to know it and feel it is so calming. On the day of the burial, Kyle gave such a beautiful speech for friends and family. His speech was so warming and touched our hearts. He sealed the service so wonderful. We were so fortunate to have come across Giddens memorial chapel. Thank you all for you love and dedication. There just couldn't be any more improvement for all of my brothers services. Thank you so much ! God bless you and all the families that come to you. Cheers to an astonishing funeral home ! -Castillo family”
