You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I was provided the BEST SERVICE!!💯 And they’re some of the warmest people that I have ever met and interacted with. They really took care of me! not only did they meet my expectations but they exceeded them. If I had to do it all over again, I would most definitely choose Valhalla!!! They really lifted my spirit in so many ways. It’s something that no one, ever wants to face but when you do, make Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens your first choice. I promise you, they won’t disappoint!! I would absolutely recommend Valhalla Funeral Home for your family burial needs. “The entire process has been a nightmare. Staff did NOT communicate with us regarding anything. We had to reach out to staff to find out where things were and when we could expect certain things. I had to call multiple times to find out when/where I could pick up the death certificates; memory book and remembrance items; date scroll, etc. In fact, the date scroll was never ordered UNTIL I called to ask about it. It was at that point that they tried to tell me we didn't pay for it and therefore we have to pay for it first. Their internal communication is horrible, but their customer service is just as bad. They NEVER reached out to us. Everything felt like a money grab. The ONLY staff member that has been pleasant to deal with (and has gone above and beyond for us) is Brandon, who works as one of the cemetery crew. The only reason we came here was because my mother was buried here in 2004, back before Dignity took over.”

“Friendly, compassionate, caring, considerate, professional, practical, and pricey--but worth every penny. Beautiful service, catering, presentation--definitely recommend to anyone looking to send their lost loved ones to their rest. They truly extended honor and courteous respect that is genuinely appreciated by our entire family.”
