You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Ross-Roden Funeral Services I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for the exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion you showed in helping us honor my grandfather’s life. At 102 years old, he lived a remarkable life, and your attention to detail and respect made his service truly special. Your kindness and support made such a difficult time a little easier for our family. You travelled to Jamaica the final resting place of my grandfather to ensure that we were supported in this time. We are so grateful for all you did to help us celebrate his memory with dignity and love. Thank you for everything.”

“Ross Roden Funeral Services Completely disrespected our family during the most painful time. Not only did our loved one arrived 45 minutes late causing confusion, deep embarrassment and distress. They brought her in a dirty old minivan , No hearse. No dignity. It felt careless, cold, and completely unprofessional. After the service ended, we waited hours at the church for our loved one to be taken to the cemetery with no proper explanation, no apology, and zero accountability. What should have been a dignified farewell turned into a disgraceful, stressful mess. This was a failure on every level. Do not trust this place with your loved ones!!!!!! 0 Stars If I Could ‼️ Absolutely Despicable ‼️”

“I’m deeply disappointed with the service we received from Ross-Roden Funeral Services. On a day that was already emotional and difficult, the lack of professionalism only made things worse. They were 45 minutes late delivering our loved one’s body, and when the body did arrive, it was transported in a van, which is completely inappropriate and disrespectful for a funeral service. They claimed the delay was due to the hearse getting into an accident. While accidents can happen, a professional business should always have additional vehicles on hand in the event of an emergency. That level of preparation is essential, especially on such a sensitive and significant day. To make matters worse, we were only given 10 minutes to view the body, which felt rushed and insufficient for a final goodbye. After the service ended, we were forced to wait another 2 hours for a hearse to arrive so we could proceed to the burial. There was no clear timeline, sense of urgency, or care from the staff. This level of disorganization and disregard was shocking and added unnecessary stress to an already painful day. I would never recommend this funeral home to anyone. Our family deserved better, and so did our loved one.”
