You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I had a very unique vision for my late wife's headstone, and I was having a hard time finding a local team to help me. It needed to be made with natural stone elements in keeping with the esthetic of the natural burial cemetery where she was laid to rest. I was ultimately referred to Quiring Monuments, and they happily took on my request. I am beyond pleased with how it all turned out, and I know she would've loved it. I was extraordinarily impressed and amazed at the craftsmanship and uniqueness of the monument, a true testament to the person that my wife was. I can't the Quiring Monuments team enough for all of their help in bringing this vision to reality. It was a unique request, and I am still blown away by every step of the process - from the excellent customer service and professionalism throughout, check-ins and quality control measures, to completion of the beautiful, finished product. I couldn't have asked for a better team to work with on something that meant so much to me.”

“fantastic experience at quiring! they offer so many choices for granite colors, fonts and are less expensive than going to the cemetery to have it done! they work quickly and continue checking in with the customer. tom was very helpful and even though we were working with a tight timeframe, he made it happen. the graphic department worked up the perfect marker and we didn't have to make any changes. they deliver to the various cemeterys so there's not much you have to do. this is our second experience with them and both have been amazing.”

“Brooks Broberg and the staff at Quiring Monument are excellent. The process of creating a monument for a loved one is not easy. Through the process Brooks kept in touch every step of the way. They kept tweaking the wording and graphics on the stone until we were happy with the final outcome. The work that was put into the monument for my parents needed to be exact because it was of course carved in stone.”
