You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“If I could leave zero stars I would. My family and I had a traumatic experience dealing with Adair. We were recommended to use Adair for my Dad’s cremation upon his passing a few weeks ago. Our funeral arranger- Rebekah was assigned to us. She failed miserably by not following through with obtaining his fingerprints prior to cremation despite assurances this would be done. She also stated she would contact us to come in to pick up his remains in 7-10 days. She never contacted us. By day 20, when we reached out, we were told everything was ready for pick up- including the fingerprints being done in order to allow us to purchase memorabilia/ keepsakes. When we arrived the next day, she flatly stated to us that she didn’t see where fingerprint confirmation had been obtained and therefore they weren’t done. This was followed by an empty apology… No call to family was made prior to cremation to confirm all was in order regarding whether to proceed with fingerprinting - and subsequent lies despite having told her 3x during the conversations prior which she stated she’d documented fingerprints would be taken. Additionally, during the initial conversation 3 weeks prior, we’d pointed out that she had entered the incorrect DOB on the ppwk for the death certificate. She assured us she would change it on her end. However, upon review of the death certificate, she still hadn’t corrected it! Her manager, Alyssa apologized profusely and stated they would get it corrected— also claiming these oversights were “unusual for Rebekah” and also, “ this rarely happens”- This should never happen! And also, how is it possible such straightforward directions could be screwed up?? Rebekah’s level of incompetence and lack of attention to basic details is staggering. Quality control procedures are sorely lacking with Adair. This all was completely avoidable, yet the result is irreversible with respect to my Dad’s fingerprints. This entire experience has left me and my family further devastated behind our loss. Avoid this funeral home at all costs.”

“What a beautiful service we had yesterday for my dad. The staff were great and the place looked wonderful! This is exactly what we had in mind for his services and you guys outdid yourselves. The way you cared for us and our every need. I did not have to ask a thing, you guys knew our needs before we even asked. We are grateful for everything! 🫶🥰”
