You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“If there were more than 5 stars Travis and his other Kyger employees would get it!! Our Dear Father passed during all of the ice and bad weather. They came from Elkton to Rileyville late at night to pick our sweet Daddy up. The two young gentlemen that came to our home were ever so respectful. Giving our family all of the time we needed. One of our most darkest times in our lives was handled so respectfully and we felt like we were #1 on the funeral homes minds. Our service had to be postponed due to weather and Travis and his staff handled it so swiftly. Taking care of every need. Our Dad looked the best he had in months and everything went exactly as we wanted if not more. We can not Thank-you enough for the care our Family has been given and wish your staff and families nothing but the best.God Bless The Family of Richard Estep”

“When I got in town after driving all night, I went to see my grandmother at this establishment, all to be turned around by the lady who was working at the time, she said I needed permission to see my grandmother and called the director to get verification to deny me access, she turned me down with a sarcastic smile, it was one of the worst experiences of my life, that I will have to have to remember the rest of my life, In all I hope the director and the lady who was working will be able to experience the anguish they caused me, if you know the lady who was working on Friday morning or the director, when you see them Spit in there mfin face for me, Thank You, I would not recommend this establishment”

“First the positives. Clean, accessible, with plenty of parking and plenty of space for family and friends. Now, the reason for my rating. This location (the only one i experienced personally) is located on a stand alone property. Nothing nearby for 2 miles. This considered, the only type of "refreshment" is 2 water fountains next to the rest rooms. I asked the gentleman at the front desk by the name of Don if they had a vending machine or coffee machine for the use of the families attending the funeral services since again, the nearest place is a 2 mile drive to the next exit on the highway. The gentleman responded with "no, this isnt a restaurant". I responded with "Its called customer service. It has nothing to do with being a restaurant, its comfort for the atendees. Especially since the nearest place to get something is so far and you have families here. Elderly to children.""For what you charge in service costs, the least you could have is some coffee. Its going above and beyond for your clients and their loved ones". I personally own a very small business surrounded by food places and I have a small keurig with coffee, tea and hot chocolate along with water bottles. The least we can do is trat people like people and not like a paycheck. I was very disappointed not only at how callous I was spoken to, but more by the fact that this man is over 50 and has ZERO customer service or tact. Maybe its time to retire. I would never use this companies services.”
