You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“In one of the hardest & extremely shocking times in my life, Mr. Ninde & his staff really handled my mother with such kid gloves, having to bury a child is an extremly hard unbearable thing for any parent to do but having to help guide my mom through it was even harder. Everyone here really came together to handle my mother in the most gentle, kind, compassionate, caring & nurturing way possible with such understanding. Keeping her in mind with any & everything going further. My mother doesn't remember this time, but I do & I will be forever grateful for Mr. Ninde being such a wonderful friend to my mother. Doing the best he could for her, having to bury her firstborn & only son. I couldn't have imagined how important it is to have friends come together to help a mother in this extremely heartbreaking & saddening part in her life that's forever changed. Remember, the loss of a loved one is always extremely hard, but unexpected without warning is unbearable, soul breaking & life shattering. I'm beyond grateful for everyone helping me so I could be able to focus on my mother, especially when she needed me more in this time than ever before. It was nice they didn't mess anything up with any part of planning, to preparing, showing & the full actual service, nor did anyone complain or gripe about a thing if having to do it over. If something was wrong or my mother didn't like or approve of it, they would fix it until it was exactly what she wanted. I wouldn't go anywhere else but Ninde Funeral. I watched everything & when someone's truly devastated & broken. It becomes the others responsibly to help carry some of the load of heartbroken & saddness by doing they're very best & doing it to perfection. I'm so sorry it took me a very long time to write this, but even though it's been almost 14 years, in a few days. It still feels like yesterday & you all still deserve the utmost respect in what you all do. It's a very hard experience, which is never forgotten & greatly appreciated. Thank you all so very much for being so kind to all of us. ❤️ The L. Williams & J. Carr family Ps Charlie Ninde, thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing your lovely family to my brother's funeral, showing such respect for my mother in her time of unbareable grief, she still has till this day. It really meant the world to her & myself. Thank you all again”

“Being a family owned and operated company, Ninde Funeral Home is a high quality organization with beautiful facilities. In guiding me through my husband's funeral arrangements, their personnel were professional, compassionate and attentive in every detail of the family visitation, funeral service and burial. Their willingness to accommodate my husband's last wishes was truly appreciated and comforting. I recommend Ninde Funeral and Cremation to anyone needing assistance in saying goodbye to their loved ones.”

“3 stars because the service was very nice, not because of the funeral home. Director is arrogant and rude. Needs some retraining seminars for sensitivity. Definitely wants to run the show even though it might be against the families wishes. Puts his opinion in when not wanted, but doesn't like when the service is changed that doesn't fit his agenda. Nickel and dime for everything. Doesn't provide a family car. There are others in town I would check out first.”
