“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“During a time when our hearts were broken at the passing of my brother followed by the passing of my father two months later, George Sparks and the staff at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, KY could not have been more caring, compassionate, attentive, professional and accommodating to our wishes. Trying to say goodbye to someone you love is not easy, but they certainly made it more bearable by their kindness and certainly went above and beyond to make sure the services went as planned. My family and I will be forever grateful.”

“My husband passed away Aug 23rd at our home in Columbia MO. He was born and raised in Rush KY just outside of Grayson KY. He , myself and our children lived I. The area for about 13 years before we moved out of state. Our desire was to take him back to KY where his heart always was for his final resting place. The funeral home here in Columbia along with Sparks in Grayson worked together to make all this happen. When we arrive in Grayson and met with George Sparks we were treated with such compassion and grace. George and his staff made certain that the arrangements were just as we hoped for and handled every little detail for us. We couldn’t have asked for anything different. Even as we returned to Columbia after the service, George and Elizabeth checked up on us several times to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Their concern was so genuine! Hopefully you won’t need their services for a long time but if you do, please give them a call first. Their professionalism and compassion will help you thru your difficult time. We so appreciated them and their ability to handle all of the details. You will too!”
