You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My pet passed away 01/31/26 unexpectedly. My first call was to All Paws. They were so patient in a difficult time. They took time to explain how everything worked and how my pet would be well taken care of once in their hands. Process was simple and affordable. My loved one Griselda was ready in just a little over 24 hours. Every small detail so elegant and brought tears to my eyes all over again when I saw how much attention to detail they attend to. From making you feel welcomed to showing they took the upmost care of your loved one. I'm very satisfied and will be using these services again. Thank you for existing and showing compassion in my time of grief.”

“All Paws Pet Funeral Home helped me after my beloved cat Kemy passed a few days ago. The level of compassion, care and respect that we received is beyond what I expected and it is greatly appreciated. We took our cat to them wrapped in his blanket. Marlin (I hope I got the name correctly) is an amazing person. He waited outside our car and gave us time to say goodbye, and then he took Kemy in his arms as he was in the blanket and carried him to the building, then returned the little blanket. I was so devastated in the moment, that I could barely comprehend what was happening, because of how much I was hurting. Looking back: Kemy meant everything to me, I kissed and hugged him even after he died. To Marlin, it could have been just another deceased animal, but yet he knew what to do in the moment to respect our loss and that means a lot. We got a phone call less than 24 hours after, letting us know that Kemy was ready to be taken back home. Everything was as promised, plus some extra items (like a book mark, a little packet of flower seeds and some cards). They go above and beyond. I highly recommend them.”
