You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The historic Tabernacle at Temple Square SLC is an extraordinary place to visit, offering a truly inspiring and memorable experience. The architecture of the building is remarkable, and the acoustics of the hall are simply outstanding, allowing even the softest sounds to be heard with perfect clarity throughout the space. A special highlight is the Sunday morning choir performance, which is absolutely magnificent. The harmony, precision, and spiritual depth of the choir create a deeply moving atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression on every listener. The staff and volunteers are exceptionally friendly, courteous, and welcoming, always ready to assist visitors and make them feel comfortable. The combination of world-class acoustics, uplifting music, and warm hospitality makes the Salt Lake Tabernacle a must-visit landmark in Salt Lake City.”

“The Tabernacle is a must-visit, even if it isn't the holiday season! While Christmas is a beautiful time to see the decorations, I highly recommend visiting year-round to truly appreciate the atmosphere. Pro Tip: You can park right underneath the Visitor Center, which is a beautiful place to explore on its own before you head across the street. The walk through the center is lovely and well worth the energy—you’ll be well rewarded for the effort! Be sure to check the online schedule for any performances, as the acoustics are world-class. Bring your camera, take plenty of pictures, and just enjoy the experience. Don’t wait until December to enjoy this incredible landmark; it’s a wonderful trip any time of year!”

“Super historic location and beautiful with the Christmas lights. With the 2020 earthquake, there has been construction going on that has allowed a new look and although it still has more work to be done it's made a comeback. Get there !”
