You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Not a review you want to write because loosing a loved one is terrible but when a funeral home exceeds expectations and makes the process manageable for you it’s worth noting. I lost my mother this past Sept, one of her last requests was to “call around” to funeral homes to get pricing. This was very on brand for mom so I honored her request. She gave me a few names and I made some calls. Not only was Katie the easiest to talk to and sympathetic, her quote was fair and transparent. Other homes, when I had sticker shock, said they could offer discounts if we had financial difficulty. I hated that there are different prices based on reaction. Katie’s quote was the quote and all the services offered were the same. Beyond being the most reasonable, they were very accessible when questions inevitably arose. There is nothing easy about making funeral arrangements, even when things have been discussed in advance, but easing some of the burden with sensitivity and kindness cannot be measured. McKenna Ouellette really provided exceptional service. I would also like to recognize the young gentleman that came in the early morning for my mother after she passed. I wish I could remember his name, but he was an absolute professional and the way he arranged my mothers bed for us was so sweet and such a kind gesture. I meant to write this last month, and I just received a beautiful calendar with memories of my mother so I thank you for the reminder of how wonderful you all are. Gratefully- Teenie’s Family”

“Katie, I wanted to plant trees in my Mom’s memory and was surprised to see that option not available on her obituary. I believe you used to have that option. No? I used it before for other family members and friends. Please know that some of us like to think that when someone in our lives passes on, that trees are growing in their name in a forest that truly needs them, due to unsustainable clearing practices or today’s many large scale fires. Some of us really do take great comfort in knowing that our family and friends continue to live on in the form of an oak tree, with wildlife all around, benefitting from that tree for food, shelter and a place to raise their young. So in death our loved ones continue to make the planet a better place for all who remain behind. Please give us that option. Patricia Russell”

“I recently had my grandmother services here and was beyond pleased with outcome. Everything was perfect. I worked with Katie whom made the planning process easy. She provided our family with compassion and even went out of her way to set out a special bowl of my grandmother's favorite candy. I felt as she new my grandmother with out knowing her. My grandmother looked absolutely beautiful. The staff was very curteous and polite. The facilities themselves are beautiful as well as essy to access. I would recommend services here.”
