You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Monica, the owner, and her boyfriend are shady and unethical in business practice. She promised to pay the church out the finances that she would receive for rendering the services for our loved one. Then, resigned to do so. She has tarnished the reputation of her father's business practice. My review is "Take your loved ones remains someplace else where you will get professional, honest care during your grief. Fyi, the funeral home is moldy and has a mildew, so she will ask to meet at your house or anywhere else because the building is unkept and smells terribly. She should be embarrassed to call this a firm. Clean up your Act & get sober. If I could give a zero rate, I would have.”

“This funeral home is a joke. My father passed away 4/8 and It's now 7/29 and I still have yet to get reimbursed for services. I also haven't received the 5 death certificates I payed for. I did receive 3 that were totally wrong. I have tried to contact them for months now and Monica ignores my calls, text, and emails. They are extremely shady and crooked people. Do not do business with the.. I guess I have to get my lawyer and the ny funeral directors association involved. They really need to be shut down.”

“This woman made my brother look like his self in that casket she did n excellent job and I was pleased along with my family. She did not use any makeup as we requested and she did a fantastic job thank you Monica and your entire Staff.”
