“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I cannot say enough good things about Brooks Sterling & Garrett. They took exceptional care of my loved one and showed such deep compassion for our entire family as we grieved. Every detail of the service was handled with professionalism and grace. The tribute video they created was absolutely beautiful, and they went above and beyond to accommodate all of our unique requests—without hesitation. They even made sure we were personally driven to each place we needed to be throughout the entire funeral process, which lifted such a burden during an emotional time. If you're looking for a funeral home in Tyler that truly cares, that walks with you gently through every step before, during, and after the service—this is the place. Brooks Sterling & Garrett are simply the best, and I highly recommend them.”

“i would like to thank the staff at Brooks Sterling and Garrett for an amazing experience. The staff made the process easy during our stressful time. My mother was beautiful. They paid close attention to the details the makeup and hair was fixed to perfection. Again, I would like to say thank for a job well done.”

“I am a member of the clergy and I personally feel that this was a Jurisdictional flaw done on purpose. I've seen Texas North East Clergy funeral and the loyalty that was devoted to the entire service. Now you have a Superintendent a Tisd School Teacher and Professional from Jarvis Christian College stuff in a casket with the appearance of wrapping someone up in a hospital sheet. Its obviously the casket was extremely small and professionalism wasn't offered to the surviving bride to grant her husband the professionalism he deserves for his homecoming celebrations. That's totally unacceptable for Pastor Anthony Coleman with total respect to the Family and Church Family”
