You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I was not going to leave a review however I read a response from the owner to a previous review of Ty Jackson which upset me even more in which the response from the owner was not true in reference to Facebook was the chosen as a live stream option...That was the ONLY option provided for live stream which shouldn’t have required a cost. Supposedly they didn’t know how to or didn’t want to do the YouTube live stream. The Facebook live stream was not on the funeral home’s Facebook business page but on someone’s personal Facebook page with no audio and continuously ending and starting over multiple times creating a new url link each time still with no audio each time. After 25 minutes of ending and restarting, the live stream stops all together and deleted off of the person’s Facebook page; therefore my family was unable to at least watch the service with no sound. It was heartbreaking enough to not be able to travel to our love one’s memorial service during this pandemic but it’s even more disappointing when a PAID service was not provided with quality. My out of town family was not only heartbroken but cheated in this poor quality service because we could never get this time back. Also Whomever was answering the phone was not professional at all, saying there was nothing they can do about the situation when called about the technical difficulties. Facebook live is not hard to do and was not worth the price that you charged for it. Even though the monies was refunded for the live stream portion, you should have been better prepared. You had an hour prior to the start of the service to do a sound check which was not done. The advertisement about live streaming shouldn’t be offered if you are going to continue to use Facebook live because anyone could do that free of charge.”

“If I could give zero stars I would. Let’s start with choosing Facebook live as an appropriate platform for a virtual memorial service. Second how is it that you don’t bother to test the platform to make sure those of us signing in can both see and HEAR the service. Then when you call to get information you get told “We are trying or best” SMH it’s unacceptable. First we are unable to attend in person and then the only platform we have to say goodbye is taken due to poor planning and technical issues.”
