“It was the day after Christmas 12/26/2025 about 8:00 pm. My visiting family and I had just finished dinner and were cleaning up and enjoying each other's company. My cat, Missy was not feeling well that day and was up on my bed when I went in to check on her. I started to talk to her as I often did. She usually would pick up her head and talk with a sweet meow. This time she did not move. I went to pet her and realized to my horror that she had passed away. Of course I had to inform my family. Celebration suddenly stopped. I knew I had to do something and I called Messinger's Payson Funeral Home for help as to what to do next not really expecting anyone to answer since it was after hours and a holiday. Much to my surprise and relief a kind female voice answered. I explained to her what happened through tears and anguish. She immediately transferred me to the Director, Skip who was at his home at this time but was so understanding, comforting and kind and said he would meet me at the Funeral Home at 8:30 pm. I was so relieved that I couldn't even speak. I met Skip at 8:30 pm that evening who was already there, waiting for me. I can't tell you how grateful I am that he was willing to drop everything and help me in my grief. This cat was a family member and that's how he treated me. He truly understood and even hugged me when we were finished making the arrangements. I know this is a long review but I just want to get it across that if there's ever a lose of a family member, human or fur baby, your first thought should be Messinger's Payson Funeral Home. You will be in the best of hands with empathy and comfort no matter the time of day or night. Thank you Skip and all of the team that I was in contact with. I will forever be grateful. P.S. I'm sorry this review is not timely, however, I think most people will understand that my grief has been so overwhelming that I didn't want to go back to that evening and feel that pain again. Even though we had her cremated, we had a viewing for friends and family to be able to say goodbye. Everything was perfect really. Madison looked as if she was sleeping—not waxy or shiny. Yazi did an amazing job with our daughter and I can’t thank her enough. All of the staff at Messinger were professional and gracious and so kind. They allowed me to say goodbye privately before everyone else arrived, and allowed her Dad to stay longer than the allotted time to say his goodbyes.
