You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My MIL passed recently and we struggled with finding a place to have her cremated, one that was decent but also *affordable* and didn't charge an arm and a leg just to say our goodbyes before having her cremated. Richmond Coacb was recommended by another local place, and we are so glad we decided to go with them. Kathy and her team were amazing. The environment is very warm and welcoming, even if there for unfortunate circumstances. They cleaned up our loved one and made her look absolutely beautiful and covered her with a gorgeous quilt. I would 100% recommend them time & time again. Thank you, Kathy & team.”

“Worst experience ever. My two sociopathic siblings called Kathy the funeral director and created a bunch of lies and Kathy just believed them and proceeded to be very mean to me on the phone based off those lies. I was FORCED to cremate my Mom which I did not want to, and was told by Kathy I had time to find money for burial. When I asked how long, she said I’ll keep her until you get the money. That was not a clear answer but I trusted her since they have such good reviews. Now she called me and said you on have only two days to get the money and was very rude and unsympathetic. She never called to warn me that there was a deadline, she never asked or called me to prepare me of this change. My daughter got on the phone to explain and she was not even hearing her. As a professional in this business knowing emotions are high, you have to be kind and empathetic. She made me feel like scum of the earth, like we had no money and wasn’t going to pay anything which simply wasn’t true and she didn’t even hear me out to understand. I’m traumatized by this situation and this funeral home. Please be careful. People now a days only care about money. Sadly I was going to write a good review but it changed when I was treat like dirt. Kathy needs some lessons on how to be a kind funeral director, and not to immediately believe everything she hears but to listen to all sides. That’s what a good funeral director would do, they are trained in family conflicts and empathy.”

“I wanted to make sure that Miss Kathy and Miss Ashley were specifically mentioned in this review because from beginning to end it was seamless and compassionate regarding the passing of my Uncle...though all of his siblings live here in Texas ( as do I) handling an out of state situation felt it would be stressful, but Kathy was more than understanding of all details and made my mother and I feel loads better about how my uncle was to be "laid to rest " so to speak... We are so grateful to have found this place and would recommend this funeral home over and over if you have unfortunately lost a loved one...these people will take care of you every step of the way.. So very grateful...”
