You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Our family was incredibly disappointed at how disorganized Roller Farmers was with the recent passing of my father-in-law. There was no clear communication on the plan to post the obituary, and only when I called 5 days later and asked about it was I told that nothing would be posted without payment. If we had been informed on the front end, we would have gladly paid. The obituary itself had several grammatical errors once it was posted. Between these details and others, we weren’t confident in their ability to play our playlist of songs during the service. So while dealing with everything else, we felt compelled to figure out a backup plan to play the songs on a personal Bluetooth speaker. And then, during the service, they could not get a single song to play. It was truly horrifying to be sitting there beside my husband and his siblings, who were devastated by the loss of their dad, and see that they could not even operate a computer. The people were nice, but nice does not mean competent. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.”

“My brother passed away and we chose them. Leading up to the time of visitation we were not informed of any issues and they had pictures of my younger brother to prepare him. Upon arrival he looked horrible. Hair was not even remotely similar and he looked like, his mouth was contorted, he looked 100 lbs heavier than he did when he passed away, and the coffin was too small for him. When we questioned the lady (salesperson who was handling our business) said there were issues when he arrived. I asked if they should have notified us and they apologized for not doing so. When asked about his hair and his facial set up etc should they have notified us and again the answer was yes and that they apologize. In short my mother was horror stricken while I was also livid and in short we ended up having to have a closed casket for for my brother because of how terrible he looked. Not saying everything is their fault but their lack of communication ended up making a difficult situation much worse. I cannot in good conscience recommend them for anything other than a venue for the services as everything else was not handled properly. Either lack of procedures or poor management/oversight of events on their part is what is the issue. Not adding pictures of my brother out of respect for his memory but I have them available should anyone truly have concerns.”

“My mother passed away in 2024 and my father in 2025. Christina Reynolds and Farmer’s Union helped make the passing of my parents as easy as it could be. She made sure the services were perfect. I would never trust my loved ones to anyone else.”
