You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Worst experience. When a deceased loved one is gone causes a lot of pain and this cremation company caused extra pain. It took almost 20 days to get the cremation done. Death certificates were wrong so I'm still waiting for them almost a month after the Death. It's just horrible. I wish I knew before using their services. Also, I would like to add that I was called by the phone and being asked why I gave a bad review if they are working to fix mistakes. They're working on fixing the issue, but based on the time is taking I'd not recommend this company. They don't have empathy. In top of that I'm grieving I have to deal with this Judy or July telling me how my experience with them should be and what review I should give. Unacceptable. I personally didn't have a good experience, they didn't make the process easy, on the contrary they made it longer and frustrating. Of course they will fix the issue, they were paid to give a service so they need to complete it.”

“they almost never answer their phone or call you back. You have to use on call when your loved one dies (during business hours). I've left 3 messages and still no one has called me.”

“If you can choose another cremation service provider, please do. There was no empathy or compassion here with this company; in a family’s time of loss and grief, you would think that a company that specializes in a business such as this would have that at the very least. Upon doing my initial research on this company, I was greeted by Nora, who was amazing and very understanding and informative. After some time had passed and I wanted to proceed with my arrangements so I did so online, then I reached out to the customer service line again. There seems to be gaps in the process regarding filling out the online arrangements application. Upon getting on the phone, there was no reassurance or insight into the process. After I gave my information, I was only told that I would receive a call back. They did not even give their condolences, not that that’s a requirement. Honestly I hadn’t even noticed that until I reached out to another company and instantly felt their warmth and compassion, and received instant reassurance that I was choosing the right company. Namely, Lisa, was less than compassionate and understanding. She was uninformed from the moment we got on the phone. After filling out my information and talking to and agent on the phone three times, I was taken aback when she asked “what can I do for you?”. Her tone was rude and very condescending. Instead of being informative and enlightening about the company requirements, she was very matter of factly and dismissive. When I told her that I’ve been through this process before and didn’t have the same issues,She felt the need to let me know that this company may not be the company for me. And I could not agree more. I would not trust this company with my family members remains, let alone handling anything on my behalf. Clearly they do not care about the families and more so about business. She even made it a point to let me know that my opinion and my review did not matter as this company has been in business for 16 years. It’s OK because God has the final say, so I’ll leave it at that and take my business elsewhere.”
