You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Murray’s Brothers funeral home made my experience of saying goodbye to my father so much easier. Ayoko was all very attentive and hands-on. She was responded quickly and was sensitive to our family dynamics. Everything was perfect day of and put in place as I requested. She was very caring for our family and I highly recommend them for the services of your loved ones.”

“Upon my Mother's passing, I looked up Funeral Homes near her area & used the one with the best reviews, Murray Brothers. I was told by my Medical Examiner on 5/8/25 that I can truly decide on which Funeral Home I'd like within the next few days to a week because the one I choose currently will freeze her until I give them the go to cremate or prep for transfer. On 5/9/25, I went to Murray Brothers & met with my Funeral Director (Dexter) that told me due to GA laws they had to cremate my Mother immediately within a day, since her retrieval was 5/8/25. All the calmness I had was shattered by urgency & anxiety. It seemed like if I didn't pay them or organize an insurance payment my Mother would be sent home with me or left on Cascade & Utoy Rd! I remember calling back the next couple of days to get the cremation itinerary & was told she hadn't been, which conflicted with what he originally stated. When I was given my Mother's Cremains they didn't release her items to me. When I asked for them, I was told she didn't have any personal effects but I had proof that was a lie & provided picture proof. (Dexter) left the room for a while & eventually returned with an unlabeled Ziploc bag containing her items. This makes me wonder if we couldn't recover my Mother's purse because the staff that retrieved her body took it! 5/8/25 is when I began utilizing their services & our interaction just finished 1/5/26, do the math! The only services that Murray Brother's aided me with was my Mother's cremation & her Death Certificates, so why did it take them so long? (Dexter) made so many errors on the Death Certificate that I had to request changes numerous times. I had to stop allowing them to pass me closed documents, I had to start requesting to review them prior to my departure. I realized there were corrections to be made on my end also, they made me pay for them saying they go through a third party & fees must be paid. There was a point when, "date corrections" were required & trying to figure out who was delaying the process between the Funeral Home & the Medical Examiner was exacerbating! However, the Medical Examiner was stating he was trying to get them on the phone. At another point, I was being told the Death Certificate would be "flagged" if they had to report any other errors & I'd have to go through Vital Records myself, but later they made the changes & charged additional fees. The staff that assisted me was Funeral Director Dexter, Roxie, & Ayako Murray, apologies for any misspelling. Miss. Murray tried to aid however so much was wrong by the time she began. To address the building, it looks huge however it needs renovations it feels dated and old, like a Grandma's home minus plastic on the old furniture! The staff is discreet and polite in-person however they can be testy on the phone. The only positive thing about the entire experience is on 1/5/26, I met & had the pleasure of speaking to Vicky Palmer, Grief Counselor/ Concierge & I hope an HR connect. She presented me with the last of the copies of my Mother's Death Certificates. She apologized for my loss and asked me to take some time to talk if I had the time. She asked me about my experience, & I told her it was horrible, the worst! I briefly informed her of some of my experience; the timeframe in which my business was handled, the poor transcripting of my Mother's details for the Death Certificates, the lack in notification calls to keep me abreast of the process & arrival of corrections. Due to being caught off guard with the impromptu meeting, I missed certain details. In closing, she gave me her card, apologized for my experience, & said she'd pass this on. She finished by informing me they can aid me with future copies of my Mother's Death Certificate as needed. I hope that this review allows other people to make a wise decision for one of the most personal & life altering experiences of your life. You want to know that you can trust the place you choose with your loved one, their property, & be able to depend on their promptness & professionalism.”

“The only thing they got right was the embalming process itself. Definitely not the same Murray Brothers. My family and the service we received felt like an afterthought. There were too many mix-ups and too many excuses provided to the family for why we did not receive the professional service we deserved and paid for.”
