You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Having recently lost a love one, Mr. Hunter Hallford representing the Woodlawn Funeral home and Cemetery assisted us through the process. Several twists and turns throughout the process presented difficult and frustrating situations. Hunter was always very reassuring and supportive. He was informative offering assistance at every step. What impressed me most was that on a couple of occasions Mr. Hallford assisted by retrieving information from a couple rude and disrespectful people. He handled both situations with stellar expertise, de-escalating their aggression and extracting the needed information. Hunter treated my loved one and I like Family. This young man has a strong future in his chosen profession.”

“Staff was extremely helpful, caring, and patient during the planning and execution of my mom’s Memorial Ceremony. Especially Hayley and Alec. Facilities and additional accommodations were completely functional and resulted in a beautiful send off and tribute to my Mother. I had her cremated and her remains shipped in from out of state, so I can’t speak to their burial or grounds services, but this business did a wonderful job and service on behalf of me and my family. Also, we were sure what to do with all of the flower arrangements following the ceremony, so Hayley made a recommendation to donate them to a nearby nursing home, and we did. The flower donation made the staff and residents light up with appreciation and glee. I think that would have also pleased my mother despite never having to reside in a nursing home. Thank you Woodlawn for helping us to give my beloved mom a proper send off.”

“Woodlawn Funeral Home personnel are wonderful, caring, and very understanding. From the very beginning, they take the time to get to know the deceased and the family. They also walk you through the beginning of the journey until the very end. Their pricing is the best I have seen throughout many Funeral Homes. Again, very caring, loving and understanding and really do make all aspects personable and confidential. Thank you very much for all your dedication and professionalism throughout my journey. It has been a life changing experience working along side everyone at Woodlawn Funeral Home! 🙏🙏😇😇🙏🙏”
