You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“A Truly Compassionate and Professional Experience During one of the most difficult times of my life—the passing of my beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, friend, Barbara Jean Thorpe McKiver—the team at Campbell and Sons Funeral Home demonstrated an exceptional level of compassion, professionalism, and care. From the very first phone call, they made our family feel supported and understood. Every detail—from the arrangements to the service—was handled with grace, respect, and a deep sense of dignity. The staff went above and beyond to honor our wishes, treating our loved one with tenderness and reverence. They guided us through each step with patience and empathy, answering every question and offering comfort when words alone could not. The facility itself is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and filled with an atmosphere of warmth and respect. What touched us most was the genuine kindness and heartfelt service we received—it truly felt as though they were caring for one of their own. I am forever grateful for the love, care, and professionalism shown to us by Campbell and Sons Funeral Home. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a team that combines excellence with genuine compassion during life’s most challenging moments.”

“Thanksgiving Business Transparency... Did an event for Campbell and Son's Funeral Home last week. Went through a lady named Mrs. Jean. Did two consultations with her. Walking through everything step by step. It's done to avoid slip-ups. On the day of the event, me and the guys are there 6am, ready 💪🏿 I start them off and leave to go do drop-offs myself. So 4 hours in, my guys called me upset; Mr. Campbell's son wants the tents moved and the sides taken off. 😲 Just randomly walked out and gave that order. Now we are 4 hours in, so it will take another 4 hours to redo this debacle. Called Mrs Jean and told her about it and all she says is, "I know, I know, they told me," so now I'm in save mode because she's so scared of them she just leaves me to get slaughtered. 😡 30 Chairs was 5 minutes late. But everything went off smoothly. I got paid and didn't think anything of it. Never mentioned the switch they did on me and my guys at all, only posted that I was honored to be chosen by them. Wake up Thanksgiving morning to a three-star ⭐⭐⭐ review from Mrs. Jean. Petty, why not one star or two stars? 🙄 You know why—I bust my ass trying to get that mess straight as best I could. I could go in on this, but I don't even care. I got videos of both consultations of how I was instructed to put those tents up. Compared to what was put up. I'm going to let it ride, though, and take the high road. Nothing or nobody can dictate the way I get paid, especially a review that I could shred apart on social media with videos. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. 🦃🍽️”
