You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This funeral home is completely unprofessional and unprepared when it comes to handling international transfers, especially to Mexico. They had the body since March 8th, yet it became clear they did not know how to properly complete the paperwork required to transfer the body to another country. After nearly a month of confusion and inaction, it wasn’t until April 6th that they finally decided to transfer the case to another funeral home. Even after that, the delays continued. As of now, we are still waiting for the body to arrive in Mexico—over two months later, with no clear answers or timeline. Whenever we reached out for updates, the staff became defensive, dismissive, or outright angry, making an already painful situation even worse. It’s clear they were completely lost when it came to handling the death certificate and other essential documentation. There has been zero professionalism, poor communication, and absolutely no sense of urgency. What should have been a respectful and timely process has turned into a drawn-out, distressing ordeal. If you are considering this funeral home for an international transfer—especially for a loved one—do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.”

“I would like to take the time out to thank Mr. Sam and his staff at Divinity Funeral Home. Mr. Sam was very professional and supportive of our needs. Helped us out during this challenging time from losing our Son K’mari Mack. All of this is new to me and he helped us throughout the whole process. Even after our son funeral Mr. Sam still has been helping us out. We are forever grateful for Mr. Smith and his staff at Divinity Funeral Home.”

“The folks at Divinity Funeral Home are awesome. It really matters who you select for such a sensitive matter. They are able to consider all of the details and the service is always on point. Sam was one of the most pleasant men I have ever had the privilege to meet. I highly recommend this location.”
