You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The experience my family had with family owned Lakeside Funeral Home when my dad passed away in September was the most welcoming and compassionate that one could ask for. Kyle Standridge and his entire staff treat you just like family. The care that was given to my dad as they came into the house to prepare him for transport to the funeral home was done with such respect. We were told before they moved him exactly what they would be doing and that we were welcome to take as much time as needed before they left. The attention to detail from the first phone call, to the meeting to discuss plans and wishes, to the day of the service at the church and even weeks after was wonderful! Their patience with everyone while making sure we all understood everything and how it worked was refreshing and the level of honesty was incredible and so appreciated. We had grandchildren that wanted to go and see their "Papa" one last time before he was cremated and Kyle took care of preparing a room for us to go in to view and visit as long as they wanted. He made a hard time for them so comfortable by doing that! My father wanted to be cremated and it was so comforting and reassuring to our family knowing that Lakeside has an on-site crematory and that our father would not leave the funeral home, that everything would be done on the premises. Kyle offered our family a tour of the crematory and shared information about the process with us which gave each of us a comfort knowing our loved one would be cared for with such love and respect. Kyle and his staff at Lakeside Funeral Home were and are a blessing to our family! They are a true blessing to all families that walk in their door! Our community is blessed to have such an honest, caring and compassionate ministry like Lakeside Funeral Home.”

“We are beyond grateful for the incredible care and compassion shown to our family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. From the very beginning, the entire team treated us with genuine kindness, patience, and love, making an overwhelming process feel manageable and supported. Every detail of my dad’s arrangements was handled with professionalism and thoughtfulness, and it was clear that they truly cared—not just about doing their job well, but about honoring him and supporting our family. Their guidance, empathy, and attention to detail brought us comfort when we needed it most. We cannot thank them enough for the phenomenal job they did. If you are looking for a funeral home that leads with compassion and treats your loved one with dignity and respect, we wholeheartedly and highly recommend their services.”

“We are so grateful to Kyle and everyone at Lakeside Funeral Home for their kindness and professionalism during such a difficult time for our family. When my father passed away, it was an incredibly hard period, but Kyle was always available to answer any questions and guide us through the process with such empathy and care. From the very beginning, we felt like we were in the hands of people who truly cared about us and our loved one—not just another client in a business. The viewing was beautifully arranged, and they took such care in preparing my father. He looked peaceful, as if he were simply sleeping, which brought us a lot of comfort. They allowed us all the time we needed without ever making us feel rushed. What stood out most is how personal and compassionate the entire experience was. Unlike some funeral homes that can feel impersonal or overly focused on business, Lakeside Funeral Home made everything feel warm and genuine. My mom even mentioned that when she accidentally went to the wrong funeral home at one point, she was relieved to arrive at Lakeside, saying it had such a peaceful, caring energy in comparison. We also know friends who have used Lakeside during unimaginable losses, and they’ve shared similar experiences about how supported they felt. When you’re going through such a terrible time, it makes all the difference to work with people who genuinely care and go out of their way to take care of you. I cannot recommend Lakeside Funeral Home enough. Kyle and his team are genuinely good people, and we will always be grateful for the kindness and care they showed our family.”
