You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The service provided to my family was overall good, but we had a seemingly simple issue come up that really pushed the score down. My brother in law was cremated and my sister was trying to make arrangements to pick the ashes up. She didn’t feel like she could do it on her own so she asked me to come down from Dallas to be there for her. The previous week, Brooke told her the remains should be ready on Monday. My sister arranged for me to come down on Monday and pick up the ashes on Tuesday. On Monday, my sister called Brooke to confirm the Tuesday pickup. No answer at the office so she left a message reminding Brooke about the Tuesday pickup and that her brother was coming into town to help so confirmation was needed. No call back all day. It completely stressed my sister out. I told my sister I would stay until we did the pickup, even if it was a day later. Finally on Tuesday morning I called and talked to Jesse and he assured us he would track it down. He did so, called us back 5 minutes later and told us when we could come. We arrived, worked with Grace and got everything done. Grace was very helpful and seems to understand the basic fact of bereavement services: the main point of their job is to make the horrible process of burying a loved one as painless as possible. The bereaved are already stuck in nightmare and so need as much help as they can be get . Neglecting to take 5 minutes out of your day to touch base with a grieving widow to help ease her mind is not only failing to do the most important part of your job, but it’s also terribly thoughtless. I hope that Brooke is able to read this and understand that in her industry, compassion is not just a good thing; it is a necessity. I don’t think she’s a bad person, but her focus is off. Hopefully a sticky note on her monitor saying “call people back” is all that is needed. Even though I’m harping on the negative, I would recommend All Faiths. They handled everything else flawlessly, and between Jesse and Grace, compassion was quite evident. They know what they are doing and care about playing their part in helping people survive the unthinkable.”

“This was my first time having to do something like this.. I was in contact with Brooke and Coni for the majority of this process.. and they made me very comfortable an I trusted that my loved one was gonna be taking care of. They let me know step by step what was going on an if I had any questions they answered. All Faiths is blessed to have people that truly care. Definitely recommend.”

“They were considerate of my feelings, were very professional but personal. The service was completed in a very timely manner; they made all the necessary requirements as painless as possible. Their consideration of my feelings seemed to be paramount in their way of dealing with me. They did an excellent job for me and my family.”
