You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Dear Lee Funeral Home, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary care and support you provided to our family during this difficult time. The professionalism, empathy, and expertise displayed by your funeral director, Jennifer Lee and staff made an otherwise overwhelming experience much more manageable and bearable. From the very first meeting, we were impressed by how thoroughly the funeral director educated us about the entire process. Their clear explanations and attentive guidance helped us understand each step we would encounter while planning our mother’s funeral. This knowledge not only kept us informed but also helped ease our anxieties, allowing us to focus on honoring her memory rather than worrying about the logistics. The compassion and support provided by your staff did not go unnoticed. Their patience in answering our questions and their willingness to accommodate our family's needs made us feel valued and respected. We truly appreciated their efforts to ensure that everything went smoothly, and their attention to detail was remarkable. Thanks to your team, we were able to navigate this challenging time with grace, knowing we were in capable hands. Your commitment to providing compassionate care and guidance during such a profound moment in our lives is deeply appreciated. Thank you once again for everything. Your dedication to your work is evident, and we are grateful to have had your support. Warm regards, The Mckoy Family”

“I would absolutely ditto what reviewer Marie Raghnal wrote about Lee’s Funeral Home. My husband and I set up a Funeral Trust for my father-in -law several months ago with Lee’s with the full understanding we could use any other funeral home once needed. Once we needed this service we knew right away we would use Lee’s because of our 1st visit. Jennifer was very kind, patient and attentive during this process. The service for my father-in-law was beautiful and stress free bc of Jennifer and her support staff . We are truly grateful and we highly recommend Lee’s Funeral Home.”

“During our time of grief, planning a funeral for a loved one is extremely difficult. My mother pre-planned her funeral with Lee's Funeral Home and the one thing I learned from Lee's Funeral Home is never judge a book by its cover. The waiting room is outdated but the service is impeccable, honest, warm, comforting and calming. Jennifer took us through every step, showed us what my Mother had chosen, asked if we wanted to change anything...we didn't. A staff member came in and asked us questions about Mommy, which made us remember the little things and we were presented with a tapestry of her life that truly brought a smile to my face. Lee's took great care with Mommy, gave her dignity every step of the way...she looked peaceful and beautiful. Lee's was also able to provide some options for a caterer in the area for the repast. They put together a bag at the end of the service with the cards from the flower, the sign in book, the additional programs and the cards, and the tapestry. We didn't need to go look for anything or gather stuff, they had thought of everything!!! I'm not sure I have completely conveyed how great Lee's Funeral home is but I am giving it my best effort. I thank them for taking care of my mom and in turn taking care of the family. If the star scale went to 1000, that is what I would give them.”
