You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Nick and his staff made this difficult time bearable. They were very understanding and patient with my family. He came to our home to plan things instead of us having to go to them. My mom has dementia and this made things easier for us to plan. I highly recommend them for all your funeral and cremation needs. You will not be disappointed. It has been over 2 months and we still get cards and calls from them checking to see how we are doing. Thank you so much Nick. Your kindness is very rare and means more than you know to my family. I feel like you are family now.”

“A few months before my papa Passed away I had called so many funeral homes looking for someone who could help. I wasn’t looking for anything special. I just needed someone to sit down and talk with me about how the process goes and what kind of price I would be looking at so I could prepare myself. We knew it was coming. We just didn’t know when. I spoke on the phone with Nick, He has a voice that you can’t forget. Although he cracked a lot of jokes(Which I really liked) His voice was very calming in A situation like this. I called so many funeral homes, and he was the only one who was willing to stop his day and talk to someone who didn’t have any money in their hand. Every other funeral home called Acted like they could not be bothered with someone with no money in their hand. Fast-forward a few months later on February 4, my Papa Went to be with his heavenly father. I knew that I wanted to go with Providence. Even when every family member was telling me to go with other places. I called him up and let him know of the situation. He talked us through everything and told us how everything worked. (This was our first time ever having to bury someone) Everything he said in person was pretty much the exact same thing that he told me over the phone. There was no huge jumping numbers just because someone had passed. For the most part Providence in our church victory, life Church took the roles of mitigating everything for us. It took a huge burden off of our shoulders and such a hard time. I cannot think Providence funeral home enough for the care and Compassion shared to our family. The really corny dad jokes Were the cherry on top of everything. It lightened everyone’s spirit every time a terrible joke was said. If you could go with any funeral home, I would highly recommend Providence. Our family has used multiple different funeral homes in the past, Each time I felt like we were a number Or a dollar sign. But for Providence, we were just people who are hurting and they wanted to help. Thank you so much!!! - Britany and Jerry Clark”

“Nick was wonderful to work with during our time of sorrow. The service provided was top notch. Prices were so much better than several other funeral homes. Will definitely use them again and recommend them to others.”
