“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Do not come here. So rude and totally opposite of considerate. He kept following us around as if we where gonna steal something. Once we had finished the ceremony/ prayer, we asked to take a few pictures of with our loved one, and got an incredible amount of attitude and was being just straight rude and told us “no the casket is going to close already” It was 7:30, they close at 8. Totally kicked us out in a rush and closed the gate in on us while we where still getting in out. 0/5 service”

“My family is going thru tough times right now ! We never are real about our lives but I hope that transparency helps someone in need just like my family needs your prayers. Southwest funeral home took care of my niece beautifully! May our Lord be with everyone ❤️🩹”

“We had a funeral for my little brother. They rushed us out by 7:49. We had until 8pm with our last moments with him. I understand you're trying to leave but they should be more compassionate towards the grieving family. They also said they would give us a recording of the funeral since he has 3 little girls. It would've been nice to show them in the future. They ended up saying they do not do this. Then why say it? We lost out on that memory forever. Just don't lie about it and we wouldve just found someone to record part of it. However they were helping a bit with setup, everything just seemed so rushed.”
