You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I absolutely appreciate and always well. The care That you guys show and take to prepare my loved ones. Fortunately, and unfortunately, this is not my first rodeo with Wylie funeral homes and because I know that my loved ones are in the best hands in Baltimore city and county I never have to wonder what I’m walking into. If you’ve ever been down this road, it gives you such an ease when you walk in a room and your loved one is peacefully sleeping you guys should be proud of the work you do. I love you all for it. I just recently had to put my mother to rest and two years before that my grandmother you guys made that so much more easier than it was the peace they had when I walked into the viewing room and the piece that came over me as I prepared them for their final resting place I could never put a price on it. I love y’all so much for that and thank you.”

“Wylie made a some inhumane, unethical and unprofessional gestures. From the mistakes on initial phonecalls, to the pick up of body, receipts of the body arriving , and the acknowledgement and the next steps. There were mistakes all throughout. There were some polite people, Ms Tabitha, thank you and Ms Jennifer thank you as well. I was not pleased with the look of my father, or the care giving at the time of pick up. I appreciate the above and beyond for the video call for me to id the body, but the associate was not informed nor communicative about what he was doing. I sat on the phone for twelve minutes before he discovered that I wasn't viewing the body due to him not giving me directives of what to do. He explained it was his first time. I found mistakes on the paperwork twice. In the preview and the final. The body bag was put down on the wrong side with the body ,then had to be corrected which one of the two jumped over the bed with the shoes on flipped the bag, wiped the feces off the bag with my sheet then threw that to the side as well as left the trash of the bag in the floor, grabbed the body then asked me if I could put the clipboard on the body so they could leave. No respect for my love one. The face in the viewing looked like glue was on the skin of the eyeballs or some discolored foundation. It was very disheartening. Overall I'll be glad to be done with the process. Thanks for all that was done right.”
