“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The funeral director said all of the right things and when there were mistakes he was quick to fix them. The problem is there were too many. The obit had my dad’s name misspelled, the announced date of the service was instead the date of his death. The obit did not go in on Sunday as promised. The director took responsibility but the obit didn’t go in until Wednesday. The address of the church was incorrect and lastly although the services were prepaid by my parents 20+ years ago we were presented with a $3500 bill. When confronted, this was also a mistake and the real amount owed was $605 for ancillary things we requested. Had I not challenged this we would have over paid by a lot. Nice people but too many errors at a tough time. The last thing seemed sketchy. Can’t ever be sure but it was a very bad look. My siblings and I will prepay elsewhere.”

“Taking care of the final arraignments of a deceased loved one is never a pleasant experience. However my experience with Billow's Funeral home was all very positive. They help guide you every step of the way and are kind and supportive at all times.”

“Being able to work with Billow, both Stacey and Nathaniel, during this difficult time was a blessing in disguise. It's hard enough to make sure that we were doing everything right for our mom, yet with their help and support, I think our mom would have been proud. From the planning, to the funeral home, the staff, and the continued care and support after has been more than we could have imagined. From myself and my family we would like to thank everyone at Billow for helping to honor our mom.”
